It might be due to the grip angle.
It's easy to have the gun pointing high, which will cause the ejection port to be aiming back, instead of flat and parallel to the ground.
And if the gun is also canted a little to the left, then cases fly backwards.
Just a thought.
Lock the doors, they're coming in the windows.
