Hello everyone. I just joined this site. My grandfather left me a gun and I don't know how to tell much about them. Looked for a model # but there isn't one on this gun anywhere. On the barrel of the gun it has "38 S.&W. SPECIAL CTG.". Inside the cylinder on the frame it has "39979", "D", the number "8", and the number "9". On the butt of the gun it has "C 420xxx". Can anyone help me date this one? Will it shoot +P? What would the value of this gun be in excellent condition? Thanks in advance for the help.
