Please forgive a stoopid question: Did you just remove the forend wood, leaving the foorend iron attached to the barrels, or did you unsnap the entire forend assembly off the barrelled action ?
Once the forend's off, along with the attached forend iron, there's nothing that should stop one from unhooking the barrel set from the action hinge pin when the top/opening lever's held in the "open" position.
