The answer lies in method, clothing, holster, belt, body, habits (don't touch the lump), etc. With the right system, you can carry a LOT of gun. One of my regulars is about 5'8", 135, and carries an M&P 40 full size with a Streamlight TLR-1, and a Trijicon RMR on it as his CCW. He also has a very narrow waist, and habitually wears a jacket over his sweatshirt over his firearm. In Oregon, that's normal.
