I'd say get a .22 to learn the fundamentals, once you've gotten those down, move up to the bigger rifle. All that's true, and I believe that every rifleman should own at least one good .22. It's inexpensive practice, all the fundamentals apply, and it just a lot of fun. There is a whole lot to like in a good, accurate .22 rifle.
