If you'd like a better statistic, try this one on for size: according to Grant Duwe's research reported in
Mass Murder in the United States: a history, the most deadly mass murder attacks throughout the past century did not involve firearms. They involved arson and bombs.
Even if you could eliminate all guns by outlawing them (you can't, but even if you could), the body counts would then go
up, not down, as nutcases turned to more dangerous weapons such as matches and fertilizer.
