defiantly don't need to spend big bucks to get one. Just pick up a used springfield mil-spec/GI, RIA or cimmeron. (there are about 5 other well made "knock offs" that are good solid guns too that don't cost more than any other middle of the road auto)

My first one was an old beat to hell rattle trap springfield 1911 that set me back $250 and change....and I loved it
