- Pearl High School in Pearl, Mississippi. The assistant principal got his gun from his car, and he confronted and stopped the shooter.
- Appalachian School of Law shooting. However, in that case the students who got their guns from their cars also happened to be LEOs.
- Aurora, CO church shooting, April, 2012. The fellow who stopped it was an off duty police officer.
Of course a primary reason why more rampage shootings aren't stopped by a potential victim with a gun is that rampage shooters seem to be pretty good about choosing places in which they won't find any potential victims with a gun.
