I turn the end tips into center of diameter then with 2 pairs of needle nose, I hold with one and tweak the tip into the spring a bit...

But I do not think you need to worry unless the ends are askew...

With the way the spring fits in the shell follower, it sould settle in fine...

I AM NO SMITH SO THIS ADVICE IS WORTH WHAT YOU PAID FOR IT!!!
