I found the stut to add quite a bit of consistency in my 100yd groupings. That, in conjunction with my TechSites rear site upgrade has made my rifle pretty accurate with or without scope. I also agree that the strut improves the look of the mini-14 quite a bit and really gives it the M-14 look.

Here is mine with the strut addes, and also in comparison to my M-14
