LCP is my main carry these days, in the front pocket in a holster that looks like a wallet. Magtech 77 gr. SCHP and Aguila 90(?) gr. JHP have been tested and proven for 100s of rounds at this point, and they are generally available either at Cabela's or the gunshow.
Alternative for bigger pocket is an LCR .357.
I obviously consider the LCP adequate. Few of us live in war zones, and it's so easy to carry I never forget it.
Reliability is one major factor in favor of the LCP. For a pocket pistol, it is excellent, maybe 6 or 7 malfs in nearly 2000 rounds. I cannot think of another true pocket pistol in .380 or higher I could trust like the LCP.
