I have had two Ruger Single Six revolvers and a Colt SAA. I have many times taken all the moving parts out of them for thorough cleaning. I have a newer Ruger Blackhawk. I have not taken that apart yet, but would not hesitate. I have never taken a DA revolver apart, but then I have yet to drop my DA into sand, mud or water.
If it comes down to the DA needing it, I would give it a whirl.
