even though I hate recommending glocks...
might I suggest the glock 17? pretty much the same gun as the 19 but longer grips and slightly longer barrel and slide.
I am partial to the springfield XDM myself with all the strong points of the glock with none of the weaknesses(for my uses).
if you are just looking for flat out intimidation I would agree with 3rd gen S&W, EEA witness or early Ruger P series, handled the P89 at a gun show 2 days ago and was actually pretty impressed.
