Personal opinion: shooting in the area where you intend to deer hunt does not sound like a good idea. Last I checked, you want to be quiet around deer so as to not spook them.
I have seen many hunters over the years who like to target shoot in the great outdoors and do so, but I have seen very few of those with game.
