Rich, don't know if this will help, but this is a S&W Hand Ejector, predecessor to the K frame with a pair of Pachmeyer grip adapters on it. It's truly a comfortable gun to shoot, and I think that they add a vintage look as well. Pachmeyer made them for Colts as well and you can find them on Ebay or Gunbroker. In use, you remove the grip panels, and add the adapters...they have thin metal ears that slide under the grip panels, the grip screw provides plenty of "grip" to keep the adapter in place.
