There are many great shooting guns out there. What makes the Glock superior to all other pistols is its simplicity.
I've tried Beretta, Sig, H&K, CZ, Taurus and 1911s. I haven't tried M&P and Walther yet.
I've tried to find a better gun then a Glock and I'm still trying. But what makes the Glock superior is that it's the simplest gun to take strip down to the firing pin and extractor and has fewer parts. That's important because FTE and FTF are directly related to those two components.
In the final analysis I've concluded that only 1911s and Glocks are keepers, the others get traded away.
Experience is a very bad teacher because it first gives you the test and then teaches you the lesson.
