Do you already own a P220?
If so, then shoot a P220. You can always upgrade later.

I would not buy a P220 for the purpose.

I only know one guy shooting a P220 in "comps" and that is because it is his duty weapon he wants maximum familiarity with.

I shoot mine occasionally for familiarization with a home defense weapon.

But I would not buy one for target shooting.
