How to remove pistol "insert" pins
I'm replacing the backstrap on a S&W 639 9mm square trigger guard/all SS (houses the mainspring as on a 1911). The insert pin at the heal is rounded on one end, the other end is flat. So, which end do I hit with punch and hammer? Is there a correct direction I should be moving the pin? Should pin be removed in opposite direction as installed, or can I just drive it right on through?
Don't want to break this little sweety, it's one of my favorites.
I've dis-assembled 1911's before, replacing triggers and mainsprings, but never a S&W 639 - the three little thingies under the slide and the thought of them laying the bench have always frightened me.

Reason: a 639, not 629
