I had a similar experience with what I think started as a kit from CVA.

The revolver is a five shot .31 and the cylinder was manufactured with the ratchet ring indexed off by about 30 degrees.

I bought it at a gun show in Dade City, Fl for 75.00 It would not line up when I was handling it. I thought this was an easy fix with a little filing on the hand. Well I went through two hands trying to fix it that way when I finally realized I was barking up the wrong tree.

I went to town on the ratchet ring and got it to index shootably on all five.

I agree with you....Its a wall hanger.
