This thread will serve as a repository of information for the shooting of Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Florida. The circumstances and outcome of the case may very well have lasting repercussions on Stand Your Ground and other similar state laws.
A brief perusal of media coverage shows that this is a sensitive issue. Race and politics have been dragged into it, and we have no concrete information yet as to what actually happened. As such,
we are not allowing general discussion of the case in this or any other subforum. Starting threads about the case will be grounds for disciplinary action.
For now, the Florida 18th Circuit keeps records of all proceedings,
which are viewable here.
The City of Sanford initially had documentation on the incident, but much of it was removed at the behest of a state attorney. Some of it remains
here.
As more information is available, it will be posted here.
