Yes you cant buy a gun for someone else that is illegal, But i think it is a little much but you did say you bought it for your wife to shoot, Huge NoNo it is actually a chargeable offense if someone was anal enough to do that, I Know ATF would that is what they do lol, the shop is going a little over board on legality's i think.
