I live in Illinois south of I-80. I find even the FOID highly objectionable. I can't imagine jumping thru the hoops you did in Chicago. It's time to take state control away from the crooked Chicago machine and restore some sanity to Illinois. After the next round of lawsuits, you sir, should be entitled to a refund.
