Years ago I tried Ranier's plated bullets and found them to be poor performers. They looked like the surface of the moon, and were apparently so soft that even light crimping would deform the bullets enough to cause serious accuracy problems.

However, for the last couple of years I've been using Ranier's "Restrike" bullets and find them to be every bit as good as the best jacketed and plated bullets, at a better price. Apparently, they worked out whatever bugs were in the earlier incarnations.

While I generally prefer cast lead bullets for handgun reloading, for those applications where I need or want a jacketed bullet I buy Ranier.
