Deerhunter, If you are just starting with the .45-70, 4198 is the way to go because it will cover such a wide range and uses relatively small charges. Chey is right about 3031 and H-322 for the very heavy loads, but that's not the place to start.

I don't think it matters which of the 4198s you choose, but pick one and stay with it because there can be small differences.
