python ctg

My neighbor reciently gave me a 4" colt python. He told me that it had a factory triger job done to it. I'm curious about the value of the gun, if its ben fired it's hard to tell. What does the ctg stand for? The sereal numbers are K27893, are they also date codes, how can I find out how old the gun is? The gun is imaculate, blued and unschrached in any way. Thanks for any info ya'll have on this gun.
