Would you thread the end of the barrel to accept a muzzle device on a Model 70 in 30-06?

I have to check as I dont have it in my hands yet, but I dont think it is a pre-64. But it is over 30 years old.

Is there collectors value to it?

We'd hate to see a premium rifle 'ruined' by external mods. But if it is 'just a shooter' then OK. Not that the owner will ever sell it, but just on principle would preserve any collector's value if it had any.
