Just Bought Rem 870 20G. Pump at show

At the San Jose gun show today for $285.. Appears to be in mint cond.
Any one have any thoughts on this gun? I was looking for 20G and heard a lot about the 870.

Any limitations? Accolades? Please let me know. Thanks!!

I once had a sweet 20g 870 Wingmaster with beautiful wood and a vent rib barrel. My evil first wife took it when she left with her boyfriend.
It was a great all-around upland gun. I'd love to have that 870 back, as long as she didn't come with it.
Enjoy that shotgun. Personally, I think every gun collection should have atleast one 870.

Limits? No practical ones. It's an 870, arguably the most reliable repeater ever made. It'll feed and protect your family for decades and even generations if cared for.

Kingcreek's right. A collection w/o an 870 is just not complete, nor as versatile.

Nor is any collection complete with at least one 12 and one 20.

No collection is complete without an 870 in 12, 20 and 28 gauge. Might as well throw in a 410 too:D

I am looking for that elusive 20 and 28 locally. No luck so far. :mad:

Bit tough of my shotguns & do just as well with the 870 Express. Might as well start off ugly. ;)

Picked up a 20 Youth for The Wife & after a coupla shoots, decided I needed (yes - need) one for myself.

This keeps up & we'll need a safe for just the 870s. :cool:

I have a 40+ year old 870 20 that was pasted down to me from my dad. It still shoots as good as it ever did.

Geoff, a recent episode of Pull! on the Outdoor Channel had Billy Whatshisname using an 28 ga 870 for sporting, instead of his usual high dollar O/U. The birds kept breaking, and I doubt it was edited all that much.

Small gauge 870s are fun too. I may shoot a bit of SC with the kid's YE soon.

K80Geoff, call the Buffalo Gun Center in Buffalo, NY. Before I moved they had an 870 in the smaller gauge. Don't remember which, think it was 28. Best of luck, from Texas, BB.
