View Full Version : Changing my mount

I am new to shotguns as I mentioned before.
I was getting a bruise in my bicep. I obviously wasn't holding the gun correctly.
Last time I went trap shooting I changed the mount to the way it should be. The only thing is that it threw off my aim and I hardly hit anything. I got 2 out of 25. Pretty pathetic, huh?
Any advice how I can get back to hitting and destroying things again?
Thank you,
Michael

See thread I just brought back up on Mounting, it should help you. If not, ask again...

Dave it doesn't deal with my question of relearning how to hit a target after changing my mount.

It's hard to diagnose form faults over a fiber optic cable, Michael, but...
If you're doing it the way it's described, you should be hitting more than 2/25.Check your eye dominance first. Then, if that works out correctly, check your head position.
Get back to me if that doesn't do the trick..

What I was trying to say is that I was doing better when I was holding the gun incorrectly.
Now that I am holding it correctly it is throwing me off.

Let's go back to square one, Michael. Using proper form and eye, pattern that thing and see just where it's hitting. If it's on, something has crept into your form and changed things besides the mount. Guts say you're stopping the swing, but let's see where it patterns...
