Help, please...

...in ID'ing the exact model of a Browning Auto-5 20-ga. that I may purchase.

I know that, beginning in 1958, A5s were marked with one or two digits followed by a letter code. This one is marked 'Z'...specifically 8Z8xxx on the bottom of the receiver...and the barrel is marked 'Made in Belgium' with an address of 'St. Louis, Mo.'

Chambered for 2.75" shells; not able to find a choke designation. Buttplate is synthetic, marked in center with FN logo and periphery with 'Browning' and 'Automatic'.

Rounded pistol grip with checkering [as on the foregrip]. Standard rib with two parallel anti-glare "stripes" on the top of receiver and barrel.

Receiver is scroll marked; 'Twenty' appears in script on upper center of receiver.

This shotgun would seem to be a standard-weight mfrd. in 1958, but the 'Z' code has me stumped.

Check Browning's web site. IIRC, they have a feature on the site that will(?) help with a search like this. I stumbled across it trying to find out more on a 1 of 500 A-5 that I have.

That's why I'm confused by the 'Z' designation.

Called Browning directly and found out that the 'Z' code is for 20 gauge lightweight configuration. Shotgun was made in 1958...

See my post under "anybody have a life long shotgun." The Light 20 A-5 is a great gun. If you buy it, you've bought yourself a great gun.
