Can anyone give me a fairly detailed description on how to disassemble the bolt carrier on a Winchester 1300, speciafically how to replace a broken extractor? I know the manual says not to attempt it, but is it something a fairly competent person can do or is it really best left to someone who knows what they're doing? Thanks for any info.

Cautus....can't give specific info on your problem.....but I had a problem with a broken screw which held a plate on top of the bolt called winchester and asked for help with a tech problem...the smith I spoke to was very willing to help..in my case the screw in question was a common problem and they re-designed the plate to snap in place (mod 1200) ...bottom line cheap repair and good cust service

I did a disassembly and reassembly about a month ago for the first time. I judge it as moderately difficult on account of the springs and having to line everything up just so. It definitely helped to have the picture from Winchester's web site.

good luck!
