The only thing available locally is rusted junk, and the prices are outrageous ($12.50 for the little 30 cal  ).

Has anyone ordered these from Cheaper Than Dirt? I seem to recall sometime back they were also advertising reconditioned ones for not too much more. Anyone know about these?

Try a gun show. Just picked up a dozen brand new 50 cal cans for $4.50 each at the last show (30 cal cans were cheaper). If you include the price of admission and parking it works out to about $5.50 per ammo can, still not too bad.

I ordered two cans with my last order of ammo. They had them on sale for $4/can.

4 for $12 (.50 cal)

Jeff, I too am sickened by the prices of these things in gunstores. First time i saw them for $12 a piece, I actually asked the guy what was inside them!

Just order some "canned heat special" ammo from Ga Arms. Ammo is great and it comes in the ammo cans or Email me with address and send some shipping and I will send you some free cans that I have laying in my garage.:)

Wow, that's a little steep. Here in Va at the shows, I don't pay anymore than $2.50 a can, and I usually hold out til I find them for $2.

You might want to try to hit an out-of-state gunshow.
