OK Lets keep this alive. Who is coming and what are you bringing?

I hope somebody shows up! Even though it will rain (the K80 curse:D ) we can still shoot as the firing points are covered.

Somebody better bring an M1 carbine, haven't shot one yet.

Let's check in PA TFL'ers.

Are we going to have a moderator this time, I know one of you has bailed out already.

Oh Please!!! I still have scars from the burns I received from hot brass from the last meet!

Unless one of the Mods from Va shows up we will be without leadership from TFL

I am bringing my Mak (EG) too and my AR. Have to teach these young'uns how to shoot one in case they get drafted:D

K80Geoff,

 You know I bet you are still finding some steel casing in your shoes. I checked the weather, it is look NICE!! :)

Hopefully I can figure out what an AR is??????? :p

I just Private Messaged MAL H so hopefully we can put him in a guilt trip. Just a word to all you new guys out there. This range is good for all weather. If its cold you can go in and warm up with Coffee or Hot Chocolate. If it rains, the benches are well protected.

I'm bringing the FAL, SKS, Mini 14 and maybe my Colt 45.

David Park
October 24, 2001, 05:10 PM
I'm still coming, and bringing the FAL and Mossy 500. I really want to pattern the 500 since I finally found some more choke tubes. I also want to see if the Super-Glue holds. :D

I'll also bring my SIG P239, but I'm saving most of my 9mm for training next month. Thanks to Ammoman, I now have 1000+ rounds of 7.62 NATO, but I think I'll leave some of it at home. ;) I also have some .45ACP if anyone else brings a .45.

SodaPop, if you can convince Mal to come, he's welcome to ride with me. According to MapQuest, I should take I295/95 north to I476, and that will get me there in 3.5 hours. Sound about right? How much more time should I allow for traffic on 95?

9mmMike
October 24, 2001, 05:34 PM
I am still hoping to attend. I have a pretty big deal going on at work on Sat but if it goes OK and I do not get called back Sunday, I am in.
I am still planning on bringing at least one of my FAL toting friends.
I can also bring an old Colt 45, a Camp-9 (only if someone wants to try it), my "new" 870's (Geoff, I am counting on you to help me pattern these things) and a Glock 19 or Sig 228.

Is there a set time? Some of us church-going types may be late. How much cash do I need? Is there grub available?

Mike

October 24, 2001, 05:37 PM
One more thing.
Anyone out there have a vent-ribbed 26", 28" or 30" modified barrel for an 870 for sale?
Thanks,
Mike

What would one of these meets be without Soda Pop and his fabled FAL :D

You had better not bad mouth my AR after your latest escapades :p

OK Looks like I will be bringing my roll of brown paper so you guys can shoot patterns with your Shotguns and go home and count the holes

I never bad mouthed your AR!!! Remember I was fending off all those Mini 14 bashers. You said it yourself that it had to be broken in.
We'll find out if the FAL Saga is over!!! I'll probable end up shooting a Horseback rider and have it taken away.

October 24, 2001, 09:51 PM
Oh and Everyone try and be there by 11am. Hopefully by 1pm we can get in a group shoot. I'll be there at 9AM so anyone that wants to get an early start can come then.

Got your PM SodaPop. Sorry, but guilt trips don't work on me. My wife has tried them for over 33 years to no avail. :)

Seriously, I will be working this weekend, and the next, and the next... I sincerely would like to come, but no can do. I also wanted to go to the Bull Run meet last weekend but couldn't for the same reason. There's no rest for the weary. Have fun and play safe.

October 25, 2001, 09:16 PM
Geoff,
I will also be bringing a small sampling of Federal's tactical low recoil 00, 000 & #4 if I can make it there.
I read on another thread that you were asking if anyone had tried it.

Since many of you seem to want to do some Sporting Clays. I want to make sure we are all going to meet up around 1pm. I absolutely 1000% want to make sure we get a good group shot with everyone in it. Things are pretty spread out and I don't want to have to go out looking for everyone.

Like I've stated before I'll be there from 9am onward and you can all come out whenever. Just make sure if your out doing sporting clays you plan on being back by 1pm. Lets all meet back at the Pistol Range at 1pm. I'm not going to ring a bell and have to wait for all of you kiddies to get back.:)

Two days and counting. Hopefully will be there around 10am. Time change on SAT night gang. Remember to set it back! I will be there! I will be getting a new computer SAT so I may be offline so I just wanted everyone to know. See you all @ W&W on sunday. DAROGUE1

David Park
October 26, 2001, 01:15 PM
Soda, I'll try to get there by 11am, but it depends on how early I can get out of bed. I'm definitely up for sporting clays, but I really need to pattern the SG first.

darogue1, thanks for the time change warning. I forget every freaking year. :o

I'll be the tall skinny guy with the tan MOLON LABE hat.

See you all at the front ;)

I have thumb Tacks Geoff:)
And I picked up a bunch of large targets for us to shoot at the 300yd targets. I'm going to make you shoot at the 400yd targets too. I have to go to the AR School tomorrow. I'm going to ATTEMPT to shoot my SKS at 400yds but I may end up wasting too much ammo trying to hit it out that far:rolleyes:

I wish they'd open that 500yd range. All my guns are becoming boring to me.

Jamie Young
October 28, 2001, 09:21 PM
HAHAH Yeah I thought that was you. You were in a dark Greenish car right?

I tried to stick around but I had to get out. I seriously have to only bring one gun to these things. It was crowded there and it took forever to wait for everyone to stop shooting so we could change targets.

My Fal worked and I learned how to hit something at 100yds with an AR.

I also learned how to "IMPROPERLY INSERT A MAG IN AN AR" oops sorry Geoff:o

Jamie Young
October 28, 2001, 09:27 PM
oh and I saved all my targets that I shot at 400yds. The one I shot with my FAL is hilarious. I set my MOA too low and put a bunch of rounds in the dirt right in front of the target. The rounds bounced off the ground and went sideways into the target. I had about 12 147gr bullets enter the paper sideways. It's the most bizzare thing I've ever seen on a paper target.:D

David Park
October 29, 2001, 12:59 AM
When I got home, I noticed a C-shaped cut in my forehead. If only those Russian brass-spitters were as dangerous to the targets! ;)

Thanks to everyone who helped me break in my FAL. Once we figured out it was shooting WAY to the left, things improved rapidly. The unfortunate side-effect of TFL meets is discovering all the stuff you absolutely have to buy. I'm sure DSA thanks you.

If it gets too cold for you guys up in PA, maybe you can make the 3-hour drive down to the NRA indoor range for a future meet.

Jamie Young
October 29, 2001, 09:23 AM
Did you get hit by someone's Brass? I was surprised by the number of FAL's that were at the range that day.
It won't get too cold for some of us.

Where is Justin and Kyle? Darogue and Jhuang?

If it is above -10 then I am good to go, for the most part. I was suprised by how WARM it was Sunday.

SodaPop,

Yeah that greenish blur was me driving down that road. I noticed you had a slow mover infront of you :p

Also guess we need a sign or something to let people know "Hey this is TFL right here, come over and say HI!" I am certain I will be out there again SOON. Will drop you an email, or PM then.

K80Geoff,

I like the hat you were wearing Sunday, I need to get one!!!!! :D

jthuang ,

There is a place right up 663 (about 4-5 miles from W&W), that has big screen TVs, Pizza, and BEER!!!!!! PC Pub in Pennsburg! For PA it is a rather nice bar... Atleast from the ones I have seen around the area.... Nothing like the Red Hill Hotel :barf: Well atleast there the prices are mad cheap!!!!

9mmMike,

I have to post a picture that I took of someone's hat at W&W.....

9mmMike
October 29, 2001, 04:49 PM
If it was the one that Geoff was wearing, mine was still better. Just ask him! ;)

Mike

PS. Thanks to Geoff for his help at the patterning board. Next time I'll bring some paint. Thanks also to Ted for the newspaper that I had to use to pattern my SG.
One thing I know for sure now. If we are ever atacked by the Wall Street Journal, I've got it covered! ;)
And finally thanks to SodaPop for reserving and guarding all the tables!

Soda, yes, I was hit by brass from someone a few benches down. It caught me right below the hat and above the glasses. Now I know why you set up on the far left. My shoulder feels pretty good today, but I still have a headache.

I enjoyed the shoot. I wish sighting in that muzzleloader hadn't taken so long, I really wanted to try the AR at longer yardage.
Maybe I'll get a decent buck to make it worthwhile.

I'd like to join, looks like a decent place to shoot, especially for the longer ranges.

Good to meet you guys!

Jamie Young
October 30, 2001, 01:18 AM
David Park-You wouldn't happen to know what caliber hit you would you?

I was happy to see Water and Wings followed threw and reserved the tables for us. We should make the next shoot a Rifle shoot or a Pistol shoot. That way we all hang together a little more.

Where's Dinosaur??? I mean Mr. Personality?

Dead,

Thanks for the pointer -- I had to host the party at my place though. Although your place sounds a lot nicer than mine, I couldn't fit a TV bigger than a 32" in my apartment so that's all I got. :( Would have been nice if the Eagles won.

Soda, I'm pretty sure I was wounded by lacquered 7.62x39, as there was plenty of it laying around.

I think I found an explanation for my occasional failures to feed over at the FAL Files. If the magazine lips are too sharp, they can dig into the brass cases. I noticed deep scratches in some of the jammed cartridges, so it seems I'll have to smooth the lips on a few mags, especially the "new" one that came with the gun.

I ordered a sight tool (and some other stuff) from TAPCO, so hopefully I'll be able to finish sighting in the FAL sometime.

We have t o have another shoot real soon. This one was rather un eventful. Everyone showed up at different times. Lets have a Pistol/Sporting Clays shoot ???????? THe rifle range is going to get a little too busy now so its pistol and Clays? ANyone???????

Dead

Sounds like a plan

K80Geoff
November 1, 2001, 01:05 PM
I think we should designate the shoot as either a Rifle, Pistol/HD shotgun or Shotgun shoot. We need to find a range where we (TFL that is) are the only ones there. The range got too crowded this time.

I bought a little bit of everything and got to shoot only my rifle most of the time. The shotgunning was a bust (OK I forgot the roll of brown paper:o Mea Culpa!).

Those guys on the PISTOL range with AR's and MAS whatevers were verry annoying and their range etiquette left something to be desired. At one point that clown with the French MAS whatever was firing across the range from right to the left side.

We had no way of knowing who was TFL, I am almost sure that some people showed up and left. Maybe we all need to get TFL hats or MOLON LABE hats and (UGH) name tags :barf:

C'mon you guys in PA, find us a private range.

OK I am as much at fault for this as anyone, If we are going to have a shoot someone will have to do some organizing and set up a table or something. I guess I will volunteer next time

Dead, whatinhell were you up to:D You were walking kinda funny and grinning too much!

Dead
November 1, 2001, 02:26 PM
K80Geoff,

I know a few people around the area. Will have to ask about other ranges. I know they shoot, just dont know where. Maybe you could just bite the bullet and buy some land in PA???? :D

Oh and ummm I think I had too much coffee Sunday. :)

We do NOT need to wear name tags, just need a sign that says "TFL here, say Hi!". Or just walk around asking "Hey are you with TFL???"... That worked for me, at the first shoot. Then, again ONLY TFL was there that day in the cold/rain.

9mmMike
November 1, 2001, 07:12 PM
What about that PowderBorne place near W&W?
Has anyone actually seen it?
Mike

K80Geoff
November 1, 2001, 07:40 PM
Buy some land....yep I will but I have to get out of NY first. Sell my house, sell my business, move and start up a new business.

Trouble is some of my customers don't want me to leave:mad:

How many acres do you think I will need to set up a small range for informal use,and a 5 stand:D

Without any yuppie tree huggers in the area.

Dead coffee?....yeah right.

K80Geoff
November 1, 2001, 07:44 PM
Come to think of it, as I was leaving I saw a small range on the left side of the road leading to the PA turnpike. Spotted targets on a backstop and heard gunfire.

That is just what we need, a small range about 5 firing points. Enough to shoot informally and get to yap with other TFL'ers.

Some place Soda can't hide in the corner with his FAL and take one shot every 15 minutes:p

Jamie Young
November 6, 2001, 11:30 AM
Well we did have 4 tables 5 counting the one I held. But it was way too crowded and everyone kept showing up at different times. I'm going to look into other ranges but I doubt we can rent them ALL TO OURSELVES. I if we do anything in the next two months lets go some place other than W&W just to be different.

I do know a place that is very secluded but its on back roads and not an easy place to give direction to. My friend has a cabin up there and we could hang out on the land there and cook up some grub if we had too. Its a state run range but NOBODY uses it. But during hunting seasons its a typical "Sight in your gun range".

Dead

SodaPop,

I found two matches for that town in PA. I think you are talking about the one off of 222 right? Just a few miles west of Quakertown. Will see when I can make it out there. Should be before December. Will figure it once I get back from my trip :)

Jamie Young
November 10, 2001, 07:52 PM
The range is in Eckville PA. And its all back roads and farm land. Very difficult place to give directions. The only thing that I hate about it is.............

3rd limit for rifle and handguns

Anal Game Commision people:mad:

The worst Game Commission guy that use to patrol that range got beat up a few years ago:D He use to fine everyone for everything until one day someone popped him in the jaw :)

I have looked around at other places but they are all gun clubs and we aren't members so forget about being able to rent them to ourselves.

Geoff- What kind of business do you have?

RAY WOODROW 3RD
November 11, 2001, 11:53 PM
SodaPop,
I know I haven't been to any of the shoots as of yet but I have
access to a range in N.J. that TFLers can use without anyone else
present. I belong to a gun club in Barnegat N.J. called the Buckeye Gun
Club right off of 72E. You would have to leave all of those evil assult
weapons behind but for rifle, pistol, or shotgun shooting there would be
no problem. It has a 50yd range but also has a 100 yd range if need
be. You could have easily 5 shooters on the line at once. Next to the
range is a hunting lodge (a rancher) that has working facilities for
food (bring or buy your own) and the restroom along with a fireplace.
All that the club would ask for is a donation for using such
facilities. It would be ideal for just the TFLers of N.J./Del./
P.A./N.Y. to get together without all the other range hassels. If you
or anyone else is interested in doing something to that effect contact
me and we will set it up.
:D

Woah! What are the laws concerning pistols in NJ. Can an out of state shooter bring in his pistols without going to jail? Better know beforehand.

RAY WOODROW 3RD
November 15, 2001, 12:35 PM
K80Geof,
As long as you have them locked up in the trunk unloaded and the ammo is locked up in a separate container and you do not have in your possesion magazines that can hold more than 15 rounds you are allowed to transport them to the range. But I believe that you have to go straight to the range without any unnessesary stops and when you leave the range you have to do the same going home. Check out the N.R.A's web site for New Jersey laws if you have any questions. A copy of your sales reciepts would also not hurt if you did get pulled over. K80Geof, didn't I meet you at the U.N. rally in N.Y. this year? Pokerface was the band that was playing and it was to protest the small arms proliferation that the U.N. was trying to pass. I only met one TFL person and I'm sure it was you....:)

K80Geoff

OK As long as I won't get arested for carrying pistols in my lockbox than let's set this up.

We can set up a place to pattern shotguns. I'm going to start a new thread to anounce the shoot.
