I am looking to take a tactical handgun course next year and would like some suggestions as to what clothing and other equipment to take with me. Obviously a handgun, holster, extra magazines, ammo, etc... but what about the not so obvious?

Where are you going?

Here's my partial list:

1. Kotex--stick in any holes that get created, so far no need for;
2. Skin So Soft--for the insects;
3. lockpicking tools--so if Marines lock guns up and cannot get them, I can help;
4. extra eyes and eyes;
5. gun cleaning stuff;
6. extra guns;
7. One of those Gerber minitool thingies;
8. sunscreen--Bullfrog so you cannot sweat it off;
9. Lots of magazines;
10. water bottle;
11. Notebook and pen.
12. Turtleneck sweatshirt so brass will not go down your shirt (or two bandanas, front and back--.223 brass stings);
13. Moleskin for hands.

In addition to gunny things like lots of ammo, plenty of mags,a 2 oz can of CLP and even a spare gun, I bring lots of creature comforts with me on any extended range day.

Aspirin or ibuprofen
More cold water than I think I'll ever need
Baseball cap or any other cap with a bill, to keep flying brass from getting caught in my glasses
Good eyewear: a pair of sunglasses, a pair of range safety glasses with side guards, and a spare pair of corrective eyeglasses
Ear muffs -- and don't forget spare batteries if you have electronic muffs
Chapstick
Bandaids
Comfortable shoes
Notepad and a couple of good pens
Baby wipes for getting the grime off my hands and face immediately after shooting
Enough snacks to share with others
Sunscreen
A light jacket with a hood
