I have a Remngton PSS in 300 WinMag. I have a pound of RELODER 25 that I would like to try. I have some 168gr Amax's, 180gr Amax's, Berger 190gr VLD's, 200gr Sierra's, and some 180gr Nosler BT's. I have been using IMR 4350 and RELODER 22 with not great results. I don't have an ALLIANT manual yet and I don't think their website helps much. I would like some real world experence with this powder. I would think that this powder would work better with the heavier bullets. Thanks, Keith

I use R25 for my 340 WBY, 26" Barrel. The load is 90g, in a Norma case with a Winchester magnum primer, and a 275g Swift A-Frame (2866 fps). I think is runs about 65,000PSI chamber pressure and is a consistent .5" load in this combination and rifle. I was so happy with the powder performance that I called all over the US to find 6 lbs. of R25 from the same lot.
Check 6,
Jeff

Keith, what primer are you using? I've had very good luck with a load suggested to me by a Sierra Bullets tech, with RL-22 and Sierra GameKing 180 SPBTs in .300 Win Mag for 3100 fps. I also did okay with RL-19. The problem I DID run into, however, was when I tried to use Federal Match primers. Strangely, I got irregular ignition. I went back to using magnum primers, and everything got back to the way it should be, again.
What speed is RL-25? I've never used it. RL-22 used to be one of the slowest powders around, good for heavier bullets in long barrels, like my 26" Sendero. I used 4350 for my lighter bullets. (Past tense because I haven't worked up a new load for my .300 Win mag in 2 years. Happy with my current one.)
