What would the maximum range be to drop a hog with a .44mag Marlin lever action. Any good loads for this application, thank you for taking the time to read and please share your hog hunting experiences with the rest of us.

It's less the cartridge than the shooter. What is your reliable distance to hit a beer can, offhand? I'd call that your limit.

Also depends a lot on the angle at which you can shoot. Going through the ribs at 90 degrees is obviously different than shooting a hog looking straight at you.
Having been charged, I'd also say it depends on where you are standing at the time. I had one come from about 150 yds and nearly reach me, despite two good chest hits (and two marginal hits) with a 338.
Garrett, Buffalo Bore, and Cor Bon all make some real sledgehammer 44 loads. I've used the 320 gr. hardcast Cor Bons in a revolver with good results, but don't know whether the bullet length and shape would permit them to cycle well in a lever action rifle.
If you haven't bought already, consider the Marlin levergun in 45-70.
