On quick scan many of the facts presented are correct and many are wrong. Unfortunately it appears that those most relevant to issues requiring judgment in planning your self defense strategy are the ones that most frequently are wrong.
Even adjusting for the fact that the author is starting with incorrect facts he shows a tendency to reason poorly.
The advice presented ranges from the inadequate, to the barely practical, to the silly.
Rates a D- in my book. Not worth the time spent scanning it.
Researching the falacies in fact and reasoning might be an entertaining exercize.

"Resistance to sudden violence, for the preservation not only of my person, my limbs, and life, but of my property, is an indisputable right of nature which I have never surrendered to the public by the compact of society, and which perhaps, I could not surrender if I would."
--- John Adams, Boston Gazette, Sept. 5, 1763,reprinted in 3 The Works of John Adams 438 (Charles F. Adams ed., 1851).

I didn't see much of use there. I recommend instead Andrew Branca's book "The Law of Self Defense" available from Amazon. Andrew is a practicing attorney and a shooter.

The title is off - should be "The Mall Ninja's guide for Self-Defense"...

Finally had a chance to read the article, to be polite, I'll just say that he's wrong more often than not.
