I'm curious as to what the customary procedures are for payment concerning firearms for sale on the forums.

Do most sellers require full payment before shipping? Do you provide an inspection period with complete refund? Who pays return shipping? Do you pay attention to how long a member has been registered? If the item is as advertised, I don't see a problem, but sometimes you never know.

I'm asking because I may advertise a rifle, and I'd like to follow convention on this forum. Thanks for any input.

<officialmode="on">The Firing Line reminds all parties involved in private transactions to obey all federal, state and local laws. TFL neither mandates nor recommends any specific procedure when making a private transaction.

PayPal is an option.
Another is to ship to dealer, initially at Buyer's expense...if he takes it, he pays the agreed price less the shipping. If he doesn't he's out the forward ship cost and the seller then pays to have it shipped back.
