An AR, due to people trying to sell so many at once, as prices just go lower and lower?
Maybe a nice Czech VZ-58?

As for ammo, even new Prvi .303 'British' has gone up a good bit.

It is not going to slow down any time soon. BUT, the gun companies will adapt to the rediculious laws because they need to stay in business. Hopefully we will overcome this left wing socialist agenda to destory our 2nd Ammendment and get the government left out of our lives in the next election cycle.

All you Obama lovers who are gun owners were warned this would happen and you voted for this clown anyway. You get what you deserve and the rest of us are screwed by your idiotic decisions.

Colt 6920 or BCM 14.5 or Daniel Defense 14.5 or AK or M1A or something short and sweet like a 10.5" NFA supressed 300 blackout. I need a loan. Oh yeah, mags, ammo and training. Maybe another safe. Replacement parts, stripped lowers, lpkits. I could go all day.

I was only a couple months away from having saved enough for a Colt 6920. I guess I will keep saving but that will be my first purchase. I also want a Super Redhawk .44 so it will be hard to keep the money for the Colt for so long. I imagine it will be a year at least untill the crazyness quits and prices drop.

I have a feeling even after this thing cools down.... there won't be a flood of used AR's and AK's and anything else this time. People were caught off guard and now they are seeing the blatant agenda of Obama and his like minded cronies. I have a feeling people are going to get what they can and hold on to them for insurance against future attacks on our constitution.

I have plenty of AR's, before all this started I wanted a nice AK.... a Saiga 12, and was getting ready to build an AR-10 type rifle. Those are still on my list, but who knows.

I'd like a good, reasonably priced 1911, as I don't own a .45 right now. Maybe a Springfield Armory GI or Mil Spec. There was an incredibly big gun show here today, and prices on all 'black rifles' and standard capacity magazines reminded me of the Clinton years.

-6.8 upper for my AR for possible hunting. Most likely bison armory.

A good quality AR15 has suddenly jumped to the very top of the list. A PSA, or maybe even a Colt. Half a dozen magazines to start, and a case or two of ammo to start.

If I end up going to the range more often, maybe a .22 or 9mm upper with a similar supply of magazines and ammo.

A couple of stripped lowers.

And maybe an AK. Depends on the budget after all that.

Mr. Whimsy
January 22, 2013, 01:13 AM
Another vote for the Tavor. By the time the dust settles and I could actually get my hands on one, I probably will have just learned to live without it.

I would settle for a nice used Marlin 336 in .35 Rem., though. They are priced outrageously here because of a rumor Marlin discontinued them. A junker now runs $450 - quite a feat for a caliber so un-popular Marlin may have canned it. You can't tell me there aren't literally millions of those things in existence, so the price-jacking is just stupid. I've walked away from 3 so far and am adamant that sanity will one day return to the marketplace.

Mr. Whimsy
January 22, 2013, 01:20 AM
Also, is the sky really falling? I ask because this isn't just a run on high-cap clips or semi-auto rifles... I can't even find a freakin' revolver, let alone any reloading components in stock. What the heck, people are snapping up EVERYTHING indiscriminately. Despite the fact this legislation will NEVER be passed by Congress. At some point, it just seems like fear-mongering is being promoted.

I've always wanted a Mini-14 but always put it off (usually for some pistol). The Mini-14 is going to the top of the list ... but only for a fair price. I have enough that I won't pay more than things are worth ... I'll just go without and be happy with what I have.

A Browning Hi-Power Standard. Not that I couldn't find one now (the local Marine Exchange still had one the last time I looked), but I'd have a hard time finding ammo for it locally. I can't even find 9mm dies for a non-ridiculous price right now.

Once I can get 9mm dies and build up my stock of small pistol primers, the Browning won't be far behind.

I can't really say if the barrel is "all that", but from a recoil perspective I don't notice much difference between the .40 Berretta and the 9mm XdM. To me the biggest upside is how it feels in hand. It's a much more comfortable grip than the Sprinfields I have, not that they are bad, it's just the Berretta almost feels custom made for my hand.

The DA first shot seems a bit long, maybe just a tad stiff, but it's very smooth with no "gritty" feel to it. Follow up SA shots are short and crisp. Breakdown is similar to a glock, but for some reason a lot easier to pull off.

Plus it's purdy.... :). I got the full size Inox version and bought it used out of my favorite LGS. As far as I could tell I don't think it had ever had a round through it and I picked it up complete as from the factory for $400. Figured that was a decent enough deal, pre-Madness of course.

I'd do it again, for whatever that's worth.

Might try to get rid of this Herters .308 and replace it with brass. Just learned what a bimetal jacket does to your barrel and I don't like it. Probably another tuna can of 5.45x39, some .40 and .45

I don't have the money to buy lots during a panic or afterward. I basically get the same stuff. One gun every two years or so, more often if I sell another gun I already had, about 150-250 rounds of carry ammo a year, maybe 1k rounds of practice ammo. New holsters for any new handgun I get.

And that about taps me out for money.

So the panic doesn't change my buying habits much, just means I have to get a little less of the same or go longer between buying ammo based on availability.

Is the PX4 all they say it is? I'm really curious to try that rotating barrel.
In a word, yes. My brother in law just bought one a couple months back so I finally got to try a 9mm PX4. Three key take aways:

1) These things shoot nice, really nice. Even smoother than the 92FS.
2) I still like the 92FS way better and the slightly longer barrel helps accuracy (sights further apart).
3) Side by side against the Cougar (also a rotating barrel but older design ... the PX4 replaced it) the PX4 shoots quite a bit nicer. I still like the aluminum frame of the Cougar though and the grip on the Cougar has been what I call perfect. Think I still like the Cougar a little better overall but the PX4 is the nicer shooter.

I think I'll be picking one up some day (maybe in the .40)

Kel-tec sub2k, that was going to be my gun of the year, but 150% inflation in price makes me want to put that on hold.

Might spend a bonus check on ar-15 receivers. Have no plans on owning or shooting an ar-15 but when the crazy-buying's over and I can get some for cheep I can hold them as an investment for the next panic.

I'll also continue my "everytime I stop at meijer/wall mart pick up a box of ammo" plan that I started about a month before sandyhook. damn shame that all the ammo I bought then was for the 12 gauge, and that's about all that's left now.

I want to build a reproduction, as near I can legally, of what I carried in the Army.

Colt LE6920, ACOG, a couple of PMAGs(I gave all mine to my sister's then boyfriend before he deployed), and I'm debating whether or not to get one of those Cobray 37mm flare launchers to stand in for the -203 I had slung underneath my carbine.

Also, I would like a Beretta 92FS.

In my mind's eye, I like to imagine my library in about sixty years, lined with my books and those displayed along with maybe my helmet serving as nice props in stories to bore the hell out of my hopeful grandkids/grandnieces/nephews. :D

AMMO. AMMO. AMMO.

I have weapons in all of the calibers I like. So I will be purchasing ammo for all of them and the weapons can come in the future. Just my opinion.

I am thinking bigger picture-

Like a used gun store. I will buy back all the stuff people bought at cut prices because their credit card bills are stacking up, everything will be next to new and very lightly used because most of the people that bought all this stuff now cant get ammo to put through it....

Oh and some primers... lots and lots of primers:D

Not only will they be very lightly used because of ammo shortages, but I would say close to half the people who bought AR's or even any gun for that matter in the past few months aren't even gun people. I cant even tell you the number of people I know who bought a gun in the past month or two who have not shot it yet, or probably never will. My cousin who just bought an AR for a ridiculous price has been sitting on a Sig 229 for 2 years that he shot once, and that was only because I took him to the range so I could shoot it.

I have been wanting to pick up a nice left handed varminter in an AR platform. So far the Stag 6L Super Varminter has been one that I have been looking at. There is no hurry on my part to find something. I may even find something that turns my head while I am waiting.

"All you Obama lovers who are gun owners were warned this would happen and you voted for this clown anyway. You get what you deserve and the rest of us are screwed by your idiotic decisions." This is rather moot your god oh Mitt DID sign gun CONTROL in Mass. HE signed a permanent state ban on assault weapons, saying at the signing ceremony for the new law, "Deadly assault weapons have no place in Massachusetts. The date was July 1 2004. While Obama is try, Mitt DID.

I plan to stock up on components for reloading, enough to last at least 2 years.
I'm also thinking of a new 9mm carbine of sorts since I traded my HiPoint 995. I've still got some research to do yet on make and model.

At THR on General Gun Discussions, there is a topic where a number of ARs (many in .223) are now seen in stores.
The insanely high prices will probably keep them on the shelves until managers need the space.

At the Nashville show on Saturday, I handled a very nice, all-matching laminated Russian SKS (star with year on cover) listed at $500.

8-lb. jugs of 3031 gunpowder were listed at about $185.
This was at 1:30, so maybe it will not sell at this price.

Definitely a Kel-Tec Sub 2000 Glock version. Maybe a couple SKS's, and of course, a bunch of ammo for them!

We have a LGS that has gotten 8 AR's in since Saturday. They also have some 5.56 at 12 a box of 50. They post what they are getting on Facebook and it is first come first served. I'm not sure I'm allowed to plug the shop name in the open forum but there are not that many LGS in Ft Walton Beach...

Armslist.com has a guy in Pensacola selling 5.56 at a buck a round. I dropped him a line about the LGS prices. He didn't respond...

Everyone please keep your hands and feet inside the car at all times, the ride is going to end at some point!

will make my point to

a) buy products of companies that were standing up the hysterical and intellectually dishonest legislators
(that is olympic arms, magpull, hi-point, may be even ruger... have to research more)

b) will buy reloading supplies/ammo from companies that did not jack up the prices to obscene (for example will not buy from cheaper-than-dirt -- due to their 75/90 bucks per AR mag)

I want to pick up a Hornady Single Stage press or kit to go with my Ammo Plant for my .300 RUM.

As for firearms, a 22LR 1911 pattern, a 1911 with rail, probably colt, so I'll have 1911 with and without, an an M9 as I'd like to pick up a 9mm, and a Browning 725 Sprorting, Adjustable w/32 inch barrels.

The recent plan was to visit, for the first time just for the variety/enjoyment, a really large gun show such as Dallas Market Hall,
or Tulsa's Wanamaker's.

But having already resolved two years ago to acquire a second Garand 'in the near future' from the CMP (though having 1,100 rds. of M2 Ball-
very slowly used), would you buy a second S. Grade Garand in the next two months, or spend about $600, just on extra M2 Ball ammo?
I can afford an extra rifle and $300 more ammo as it is.

Will their S. Grade rifle prices (I don't care whether SA, Win. or H&R) remain more stable than their M2 ammo over the next year, or vice versa?
I'm not a competitive shooter and tire of bench 'meditations', but the solid, very accurate functions with these nice aperture sights and history are irresistable.

Tom Servo: You mean 5,000 rds. of .22LR:cool:? It certainly should not cost much-months from now.

I would just like to get a couple hundred rounds of CCI Mini Mags. Is that too much to ask?

No kidding. I'm not out of Mini-Mags yet, but I really wish I had picked up one of those $95 1600-round bulk packs when Wally World still had them.

I did go in there when they had 325-round packs of Federal Automatch for $15 each, so I'm actually doing okay on .22lr overall - just not on Mini-Mags.

Ammo is getting to be the tough buy around here. .22 and .223/5.56 have been tough from the get-go but till the past week or so 9mm and .45 have been easy to get though on the expensive side. .40 is still all over the shelves.

EBRs and mags otoh are filling up again. My closest LGS has rifles out the ears now, at fairly back to normal prices, and mags of all kind and mfgrs. Magpul, Thermold, Troy, Lancer, etc. Prices on the Magpuls are down to $30 now with no limit, from a high of $50 with a 2 mag limit.

Hopefully sanity is beginning to return.

At least 100 rounds of .40S&W JHP, a 20 round MecGar mag for my Beretta 92fs, and a few more Ruger factory 20 round magazines for my Mini-30.

Oh and a couple more BX-25 Ruger 10/22 mags if they go back down to $30 instead of being $99 if you can even find them right now.

The Tavor is a slick weapon! Made by IWI which manufactures my IWI/Magnum Research Baby Eagle II .40S&W I just purchased. I spent over a week hunting one down.

I might pick up another AR or maybe just grab a 30 30 deer rifle. Not very exciting but it seems like despite the focus on "assault" weapons or whatever they want to call them, all guns have inflated in price. I'm just waiting. Don't need anything but eyes are always open for a new addition.
Honestly I'm looking forward to more ammo availability at a cheaper price than any gun picks.

'Bout a week ago the chariot took me down Hwy 45, the ancient Roman road via Tupelo and West Point MS into AL.

In the pawn shop on the south end of West Point, I counted five ARs/M4 clones in .223 (listed up to $1,000) and an AK-74 ($800) with folding stock.
They were all there Friday and still stood there in a lonely group on Monday PM with nobody else looking at them. So forlorn for such 'hot' items.
Reminded me of nice dogs and cats at the local Humane Society.:(

Apparently popular rifles' availability will spread much sooner than many types of ammo.
They had bottles of H 4895 powder at Pre-panic prices:), one per customer (per visit, or day?).
