I am looking to purchase a small gun safe to possibly mount in my bedroom.
One of our range officers purchased a "Gunvault" Mini and is pleased with his purchase, but I have read numerous bad reviews. Not considering the biometric.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

So you only want to hold one gun in it? I would buy a safe based on its fire rating and quality of manufacture. I would only but AMSEC safes but that's just me. Get one that lets you hold not only your gun/future guns but things like your social security cards, wedding license, birth cert, etc.

I was looking at the AMSEC model EST813, that was recommended on another forum.

For a single pistol, I would suggest looking at a FAS1.

Heavy plate steel, Simplex mechanical lock (no batteries or cheap electronics to break), and a very dandy way of presenting the pistol to you to draw as the door opens.

I made a decision and took the plunge. I scrapped up the extra cash and purchased a "Fort Knox' model pb5.
Thanks for the replies and Merry Christmas.

I've had a pb1 style for about 20 years. Simple lock, no battery, still works great.

I just bought a 14 gun Stack-on at Sports Authority for $199.99. I know, it's a gun cabinet, not a safe but I'm happy with it. Now , where do I hide the key? It should be close if I want to be able to get to it quickly but that's the first place thieves will look. I was thinking of keeping one (least favorite) shotgun outside of the case & 5 rounds.
