Aside from the handguard (17oz's!), I really like this rifle. The fit and finish are perfect. Much nicer than my dpms.

That was my impression of RRA when I bought one back in January of this year. Compared to similar priced weapons, the RRA had a high degree of "fit and finish". The trigger was better than any of the others at that price point as well.

Is that the Elite Operator droptrd? What do you have on there for optics? Looking for ideas for my own. I've already ordered a 2nd RRA, because I like this one so much.... and not sure what's going to happen with these ARs if Premier Obama is re-elected. :(

yeah thats the elite operator II. With the 1/2 quad rail system and the dominator 2 rear sight. The Optic is a Vortex Strikefire red dot.

I have the vortex mounted to the dominator. Ive taken the entire thing off and put it back on and it holds zero very well.

Great buy! I am surprised as to how accurate RRA make their AR's and guarantee them with 3/4 moa. For the price point RRA will always get my vote.

Mine is a 16" mid-length gas system, I think it was called the "operator II " or something like that.

The one thing I would change on mine is I would prefer a lighter weight barrel and handguard. The HBAR barrel is heavy, and so is the half-quad hand guard. I love the performance, but I think the rifle is about a pound heavier than it needs to be. It does shoot sub MOA however, so I can't complain.

As shown in the photo is was just under 8 lbs. After removing the rear sight and attaching a scope, it is up to 9 lbs.

Congrats on your new rifle. My buddy has one and it has served him well. Zero malfunctions. Clean, lube and shoot!

Enjoy and safe shooting.

I have a RRA Elite Operator as well. Great rifle. The only thing I've done to mine is change the muzzle break out for a Vortex flash suppressor.

Shhhh! Ya'll stop sayin all that out loud- all that about how well your RRA's work and such. Nobody'll believe anything less than $1800- $2k will fire more than once before it blows sky high!

rpugh - how long is the wait time from ordering to receiving your RRA?

Sorry for the subject change.

I'm about to place an order for one, and was told to expect about a 4 month wait. I can get a Stag right now, but I feel the RRA is worth the wait. Let's hope a ban doesn't go into effect after the election...look's like Obama will be getting a second term.

SFW

It's worth the wait. The trigger alone is a selling point for RRA.

So I went online to Gunbroker and found one

That is what I did too. Rock River was at Camp Perry and I had hoped to find what I was looking for there but no luck. But I actually saved some cash buying it from Gunbroker.

Does anyone know how to hook up a 1 point sling to a RRA Opertor CAR Stock. It's the butt stock that comes with the Elite Operator 2.Pic's would be nice of different ways.

droptrd
September 24, 2012, 10:00 PM
I think you can loosen the butt stock nut and rotate the sling attachment out to where you want it. Youll need an AR armorers tool for that. Is that what you are asking?

rpugh
September 25, 2012, 12:19 PM
Do you think it would be ok to use a Heavy Duty Flush Push button Quick Detachable Sling Swivel 1-1/4" Steel. They push in the holes of the butt stock.

Just bought the same rifle on Saturday. Absolutely love it. My first AR and I couldn't be happier. Luckily, they had a few at the store I got mine from, but they said they are one of their best sellers there.

That is very nice! It was between the RRA Operator and the M&P VTAC for me. I decided on the VTAC because it was lighter and non-proprietary magazines.

"...I decided on the VTAC because it was lighter and non-proprietary magazines."

Sorry but the RRA LAR-15 Operator does NOT use proprietary magazine.

Don't know where you ever came up with that?

Man looks good Droptrd. What kind of optics do you have on yours, and how does it work with the Dominator sight.

droptrd
October 10, 2012, 07:06 AM
Its the Vortex Strikefire red dot. So far I like it. The dominator sight is co-witness. I really wanted an EOTech but ran out of funds so I settled on the Vortex. Its really good for the money IMO. Im putting a Midwest Industries handguard on it here pretty soon. The RRA 1/2 quad is heavy!

rpugh
October 10, 2012, 07:30 PM
It is heavy but I like it,the only down fall to it is that it gets pretty hot after a hundred rounds or so.I'm looking for a sight now but running out of funds myself.I would post some pic's but can't get them to fit any help on that.

I added a couple different things to my gun today and they work great.I added a Magpul MagLink and a Magpul B.A.D. Lever/Battery Assist Device. This was a very nice addition to this gun.

Just curious. Why did you mate a fixed rear sight to the flip down YHM front sight/gas block?

A friend of mine bought a RRA earlier this year. I was really surprised, the quality has improved significantly from the commercial grade RRA carbine I owned several years ago.

rpugh
October 19, 2012, 01:31 PM
This was the only way that I could get the gun at the time that I got it.RRA was 4 months out local gun dealers were 7 months out on getting one.I went on gunbroker.com and thats the only way I could find one and thats the way it came.I wanted flip up rear sights,so the next thing I up grade will be putting some type of optic's on the top and flip up rear sights.

I just bought a RRA the other day. I have the 24" Varmint EOP model. Haven't got to shoot it yet, due to weather and work issues.

I got lucky, a local shop found me one at a distributor of theirs. It was the last one in the pipeline. My friend went the next day to find one, and nobody had them in stock. He did find some with shorter barrels, but no other 24" models.

It's an extremely nice rifle, can't wait to see how it shoots. RRA says 3/4 MOA guaranteed.

Get back with us with some pic's and tell us how it shoots.

I got to shoot it a couple of weeks ago, and as promised it shot 3/4" groups at 100 yards. This was with 55 grain PMP factory ammo.

I believe I can do better with my handloads once I make some up. I added a Magpul PRS stock to it, and put a Bushnell Elite 6-24 x 40 scope on it. I plan to shoot out to 300 yards pretty soon.

Very happy with it. My shooting buddy located one after my last post, and his works just as well.

I have 1 in 8" twist on mine, and plan to shoot 69 and 77 grain SMKs once I get a chance to load some. Should tighten the group up even more.
