Hello Folks,

I am going to the range in a couple of days to fire my AR-15 for the first time since it has been fixed and I plan on getting the following things done:

1. Getting my iron sights ''zeroed" in
2. Mounting my red-dot scope and also getting that sighted in

Plan is to have the rifle "overall" sighted/zeroed in at 100yards, with the iron and red-dot. Any suggestions/advice to keep in mind before I go? From what I remember roughly 27yard zero translates into 100 yards when shooting with iron at targets, is this pretty close? Thanks,

A 27yd zero translates into about a 300yd zero and about 5.25" high at 100yds. I prefer a 50yd zero because you are never more than about 1.5" above or below the line of sight out to about 200yds.

I also like the 50 yard zero because of the flat trajectory which I think it around +/- 2.5" from 0-230 yards.

I would first zero the irons then lollipop the red dot on the front sight to get it close then zero it.

don't forget your front site tools and your wrenches for you base and shoot the actual distance in question because estimates are just that

Put the upper on sand bags and bore site the irons and red-dot at 25 yards or so before you go. That way you should at least be on paper when you start.
