"Short Arms"

"Keepenbair Arms"

"Straight Shooters"

"One-Hole Wonders" (this would also be a a good name for a porta-potty company.)

Probably use my last name or perhaps take a name from something in the area.

Use of some tacticool term or slapping the name of a military division on a civilian gun company seems pretty lame to me.

I've always had a penchant for R.O.A.T.S. - Reach Out and Touch Something, but I think that's more appropriate for a particular firearm model than a company. I'd have to go with "Revolution Gun Works".

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed arms mfg. Im not exactly sure if that would fit on the side of an ar but, it has a nice sound to it.

Depending on the types of rifles to be made...

John Wayne Rifle Co. (with cooperation from the family, of course)
or
Red River D Rifle Co.

Other names...
Concord Armory
Lexington Arsenal
Constitution Firearms
Militia Rifle Co.
Minuteman Rifle Co.
C. Hathcock Precision Rifle Co.
Fort Apache Firearms Mfg. Co.

Yamamoto Arms - (slogan: A rifleman behind every blade of grass) :p

A few silly ones..

A.P.I.S.A. Co. (Advanced Politically Incorrect Small Arms Co.)

Saturn Firearms Co. (Our guns are out of this world!)

Uranus Firearms Co. (Another fine product from Uranus) :D

Not hardly, though Dave died only about 10 years ago he was not someone I was familiar with.

Red River D - comes from the Howard Hawks movie Red River with John Wayne. It was the name of the ranch Duke founded (Red River Dunson, for the character Duke played in the movie) and his cattle brand. Hawks had a belt buckle cast for the Duke which he wore in subsequent westerns. You can see that belt buckle here (http://www.ranch26bar.com/BUCKLE.html).

The movie also featured Montgomery Clift, Walter Brennan and Joanne Dru as main characters. The lovely Colleen Gray appears early in the movie. Also notably good performances by Noah Beery, Harry Carey (as a cattle buyer), Harry Carey Jr., Paul Fix, Hank Worden (was he always bald?) and John Ireland as a gunfighter.

Director and Duke's friend, John Ford, was so impressed with Wayne's performance that he is reported to have said, "I didn’t know the big son of a b***h could act!"
