found one locally in the classified section of our newspaper. Very nice condition, just wanted one, no specific reason. I've owned quite a few 1100's, my all-time favorite auto... :)

A great choice if you ask me.
I bought an LT20 Magnum in about 1982 to use for ducks during the first round of steel only, when you could still use lead in a 20. Fell in love with it. Bought a Skeet barrel the day I got it, and picked up another 2-3/4" barrel along the way and had tubes put in it. It taught both my daughters and several other kids to shoot a shotgun with a youth stock in the 80s and early 90s, and it is my go to foul weather - because I can completely take it apart and clean it easily - dove and quail gun now. I picked up another straight grip stock set for it last year, and enjoy the different feel with that, too.
Oh, it is also my primary clays gun now too.

I actually met "Catfish" on a dove hunt in NC years ago. I am not positive about what he was shooting, but I remember he was interested in my 28 gauge SxS. He did have an English setter with him. You would have never known he wasn't just another one of the guys out shooting. They had a sign outside Hertford for years saying "Home of Catfish Hunter." I was saddened when I heard of his passing.

Ive got one that was my first "real" shotgun. I bought another so both my sons would have one to shoot. They are a fantastic little gun. Mine has accounted for countless broken clays and taken everything from doves to deer.
FWIW, I shot a 3 gun match Saturday. A fella on my squad was shooting a 12 gauge 1100 Upland Special with a mag tube extension and doing well with it. Little gun was flawless through the whole match.

I sold my 1100 LT-20 this past winter after it sat in my gun cabinet unused for 20 years or so. I bought it in the early 80's; it was my first gun purchase. I shot many rabbits, pheasants, a few squirrel and hundreds of clays with it. It was still pretty much like new after years in the field. It is pictured below with some of my others. I recently traded in the Remington 597 for a Savage Mark II.

I have the Remington 1100 Special Field 20 gauge with a 21" barrel. It has taken countless doves over the years. It came with a full fixed choke. I had it reamed out to I/C.
