Shooters:
What is the lest expensive semi-auto I could get chambered for 223? It's not for hunting or competition or self defense . . . it's just for plinking and having fun.

One good one for around and under 400$ is the Saiga Rifle in .223
They run real well.

The C93 rifle is only $500. I have one and like it. Extra mags are a little pricey though. You get one or two with the rifle.

Ruger Mini 14 is around $650-$700. Great fun and great little rifle.

Isn't there an AR manufacturer that has bargain ARs for $500 or so? I thought I remembered a place offering bargain bin or something like that.

The least expensive will certainly be the Saiga .223, we're talking priced in the $400's or less. Fortunately, they're pretty good rifles, durable and reliable.

My M&P Sport was $630 and has been stellar.
There is also the aforementioned Saiga and KelTec.

Delton has a good reputation for their kits. Add a Palmetto State lower for $80, and it will put you at $550 plus shipping and the FFL transfer. The DPMS at Walmart is going to be tough to beat at $589 plus tax out the door, though. -7-

For plinking and having fun it's really hard to beat a Marlin or Ruger .22lr rifle. It will poke the same size holes as a .223 Remington, at a small fraction of the cost.

Check with CZ. Their 527 in .223 is a nice rifle for a reasonable price. I like the single set trigger for plinking.
