I am looking for input on CMMG vs Rock River in 308

Which would you choose and why....?

I would go with Rock River because they have been out longer, have a good track record, and personally, I havn't heard anything about CMMG other than their 22 AR conversion kit. I'm not saying CMMG is bad, I have their 22 conversion kit in my AR and its great, I'm just saying Rock River 308 has a long proven track record and I have heard more about them. Rock River also has more styles of 308 to choose from. But in the end, its your $, your decision. Me personally, if I had the $, I would buy a Rock River and CMMG 308 :D But I'm not rich, just a common man who likes guns and buys what his $ allows him:)

One reason to choose the CMMG MK3 is it uses the defacto standard SR-25 magazine. Even ArmaLite has gone to the SR-25 mags, Noveske is going to follow that move.

Plus for the same price point you get a PRS stock and floated hand guard.

Both are good guns. The RRA is proven and they use their mags because they know they are going to work and can control QC.

CMMG is a great place to buy a reasonably priced AR. And everything I have seen personally, read and heard have all been positive reviews of their complete rifles.

I would go with the RRA as they have proven themselves to me plus easier for resale/holds value better than CMMG at this point.

Neither. The RRA uses their goofy mags and the CMMG has dimensional compatibility issues with the other DPMS and SR25 patterned guns.

Why don't you buy a DPMS patterned receiver and build your own? The Fulton Armory Titan is very nice if you have the dinero to spend, or even better than the ARs in 308, which are quiet heavy, is the FN SCAR 17.

Here are two of my 308 ARs, Bushmaster LR308 and a SIG716.

First I've heard of the CMMG MK3 having any mag compatibility issues. These ship with the Magpul Pmag. The DPMS metal mags have a terrible reputation. Most 7.62 AR style rifles built on the SR-25 platform ships with P mags, ArmaLite, LMT, CMMG. Price a KAC 7.62 mag:eek:

I'll keep using my modified M14 and Gen II mags.

I recently sold my armalite ar-10t, which was a 24" heavy barrel cut down to 18", and picked up the CMMG .308 - 16" SST LIGHTWEIGHT. The armalite shot sub moa but was still too heavy for my skinny old body to haul around. First time out with my CMMG, with fed match ammo, it functioned 100% and I managed several 5 shot groups inside .6", and needless to say I'm very impressed. It has the cmmg two-stage trigger which is okay but was nowhere as nice as the timney I had in my ar-10t .
