Hey guys, just got a Savage 64 22lr

Out of the box with factory magazine, it will not feed a round if the mag is loaded with more than one. In fact, sometimes it won't even feed one round.

Anyone else had this problem?

I'm considering taking a file to the mag "ramp" (sorry if this isn't the right term) and smoothing it off.

Before I do this though I wanted to ask here and get opinions.

I've read of other FTF problems with these magazines, but mostly the answer seems to be fire ball. I want to be able to fire HP through this thing!

Thanks for any tips

I had the same problem with my Savage 64. After a couple hundred rounds of round-nosed lead, it smoothed out. Now it feeds hollow points just fine (so long as it's clean).

Okay, I'll give that a try. I'm going to call Savage tomorrow also. I was reading something about magazine recalls with some of these rifles.

As you suggested though I'll feed it lots of roundnose for the time being.

Thanks!

i bought an old stock new one and it fed fine. I would try a new mag.

Called Savage customer service this morning.

Turned out to be a complete waste of time. They were totally unresponsive, rude, and unconcerned:
