I went to an auction this weekend and got a Savage 24v that is about 95% its a .222/20ga($425) I see that the reciever is D&Td(factory) but after going through cataloge I own I have not been able to find a base
Does anyone have an idea where I can look to find a 1 piece base. Thanks for any help

I've got the 24F - same receiver. It takes a Weaver #74.

Hi, newbie here.... I've got a 24-V, same caliber and gauge. One can also use JB Holden Ironsighter bases. I got the see-through mounts. THese are certainly a compromise, but they do sit very low as they are one piece. I can see quickly through my scope or use the regular sights pretty well. I am going to use the scope for the top barrel of course, and the sights for slugs for the 20.

Well, the Holden Ironsighter scope mounts for the Model 24 did not fit my gun out of the box, the action would not close as the mount hit the breech block on top. (I think that is what it is called.) I had to grind out an arc in the bottom of the back of the base to allow it to close. I did tell Holden Ironsighter about it, they said they will check this on their next run.

BTW, I got a chamber adapter for the .222 to .22 RF, and am having trouble with the bullets keyholing. Ace says that it may need 40 grain, lead bullets only, and be sure of no copper fouling, and to try to chamfer the mouth on the adapter. If you do order a chamber adapter, be careful. The first time I closed the gun, it went off. It took some careful filing of the rimfire firing pin to get it right--Ace said that the 24's are not real consistent on depth; he has one in the shop that he builds them to, but the 24's can vary.
