Putting a .50BMG upper onto my bushmaster fixed stock lower. Manufacturers instructions say to remove the bolt stop, buffer and buffer spring.
I have the buffer and spring out. Do I remove the buffer tube to allow the buffer detent to come free?
How do I remove the bolt stop? (Is that the bolt catch?)

Wow, they really tell you to remove the bolt catch? That is ridiculous.
I say just jam something in it to keep it locked down.

Roll pin punch.

The bolt catch roll pin can be easily removed with a pin punch that was had half of the handle/body ground flat to clear the lower. Put some tape over the lower to protect the finish.

Got it, thanks guys-got it out with a punch and tape, I'm assembled.
Buffer detent doesn't seem to interfere with bolt but I will check with manufacturer before firing.
Swapped out my Jard trigger for Spider's 1.5lb trigger/hammer set. I gotta post pics of this monster:D

If the rear of the .50 bolt has a cutout at the bottom, you can leave the buffer detent in.
As for the bolt catch, I'd have just bought a bolt release lever and put something between it and the receiver to keep the bolt catch pushed down.
