My father in law is selling off the last of his collection. He needs the cash. He asked me to sell his Rem 12g 1100 magnum 30in full choke.
I don't need another full choke auto gun, but feel compelled to buy it because if i sell it, I will have to pay either shipping or fees.
It had some rust which cleaned up pretty well, but he would not get top dollar for it as it has some "pitting" where the rust was.

At what price would it be worth it to scrape up the cash, buy it from him, and save the hassle of selling it? It's a workhorse. I can always use another 12 auto.

Meaning: What is a fair price based on the actual value of the gun minus the fees paid for selling it outside the family? $3-400 seems to be the asking price of these.

What fees ? You don't need an FFL to ship it or transfer it on your end. It is LEGAL for you to send a shotgun USPS or UPS to an FFL in any state. When I sell online (gunbroker) the buyer pays for shipping and there FFL's. transfer fee. Make sure the FFL that the buyer is using will accept it from a non FFL

I could do 200 lol. I have a spare modified barrel will fit right on this, also is 2 and 3/4 shell size.

The asking price depends on the condition and what the local market is. I paid $400 for one recently with two barrels 28" 2and 3/4 and 3" (gun is a magnum). 1100's (in field grade) are not hot sellers locally. Good luck with what ever you decide to do.

Thanks guys. If my father in law gets $350 -$400 I can feel good about him getting "good price" for a used 1100 magnum?
