Is anyone familiar with buffalo hor grips? How durable are they? I am begining to really like the looks of them and I am think of getting a pair for my
.357 black hawk or my Single Six. I would hate to gets some and have them crack or break.
Thanks

They hold up as well or better than most natural materials.

I've never used buffalo horn as stocks material before but I can't help but believe that if you get them from a quality place like
http://www.eaglegrips.com , I think you will be satisfied with not only their product but also their customer service, as I have been.;)

I had Brian Neely of Klamath River Woodworks put a one piece grip of buffalo horn on a USFA Rodeo II. That has the satin nickel finish and the horn looks real good. I have no reason to question the durablity, but if installed correctly should stand up as well as anything else. Brian has made/installed several grips for me of various materials on other USFA models and does nice work.

Buffalo horn that has not been properly dried will crack.
But, I have to believe a well known manufacturer would know that and dry the horn material he uses before making the grips.
They can be pretty.
